About Us

Welcome to the Elgin Blue Wave Masters Swim Team. Established in 1987, our goal is to provide the best training experience possible for each and every one of our swimmers. Workouts are tailored to every skill level and aimed to improve physical fitness, endurance and training for competition.

If it is your goal to compete as well as getting fit, you will be in good company. We attend one swim meet per month at the beginning of each calendar year, and the Illinois State Championship Meet annually each Spring. For those that want to challenge themselves even more several swimmers each year attend the Spring Nationals. These are enjoyable, team-building events that will challenge you to be at your best.

There are many reasons to join the Blue Wave swim team. Whether you want to get back in the water after many years, be competitive, stay fit or just enjoy the camaraderie the Blue Wave offers. We subscribe to the founding principles of our national governing body the United States Masters Swimming and Illinois Masters Swimming while encouraging and promoting improved physical fitness and health in adults.

Team Membership

The Elgin Blue Wave Swim Team welcomes all new potential members looking to make swimming a part of their lives.

If you are new to the team, the first two weeks of the season (six practices) are our complimentary trial weeks. You will still need to pay a $4 drop in fee for use of the pool and the facility unless you are an Elgin Rec Centre member. If you plan on joining us for the first two weeks please let us know through our “Connect” link so the coach will know to be expecting you. Below are a few guidelines regarding our Elgin Blue Wave membership.

• We have a yearly fee to be on the team (October thru May). Fee includes relay’s at swim meets, social events, state team apparel at the end of the season and team training.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Able to swim at least 1 length of a pool in deep water. (5ft+ deep)

• Required membership to United States Masters Swimming - (USMS). A USMS membership fee consists of a national fee of $48 and a Local Masters Swimming Committee (LMSC) Fee ranging from $3-$21. Further information may be obtained through the coaches.

• All Certified Masters Swimming Teams require insurance to use the pools. This membership requires insurance.

• Refund Policy & Status Changes: We do not offer refunds on Elgin Blue Wave membership fees.
