The Elgin Blue Wave Master Swim Team is an enthusiastic and eclectic group of adults who swim together.  Our current members range in age from their early twenties through their early eighties. All ages and abilities are welcome. Workouts are tailored to differing ability levels and take place at the Elgin Recreation Center.

See more about us and look at our current workout schedule and our tri page for further detail. The Elgin Blue Wave is registered as a Club under the Illinois LMSC and competes independently at local and National Events. We welcome triathletes. Why don’t you take the plunge, get wet and check us out? You’ll be glad you did!

May 20 -Kudos to the Blue Wave Nationals swimmers - Jennie Quill, Jack Eggar, and Jim Campana for some great swims at short course nationals in Atlanta. Jennie Quill medalled twice, placing third in the 100 fly and third in the 200 Fly. All three Blue Waves posted some top ten finishes. Take a look at their times and all of the meet results on the USMS meet database. Be sure to ask Jim, Jack, and Jennie about Nationals. They have some great stories to tell.

Apr 23 - In a true team effort, the Elgin Blue Waves edged the Chicago Smelts to take the third place trophy at the ILMSA State Championships by only 3.5 points!
State records fell to Jennie Quill in the 200 fly and Ben Culver in the 400 IM and 1000 free. Ben's 1000 free was the fastest time ever by an ILMSA swimmer in ANY age group.
Twenty men and seventeen women scored points in individual events. We were happy to see many of our newest swimmers scoring points alongside long time stalwarts.
Corinne once again did her magic with the relay line-ups, coming up with the right combinations to add valuable points to the team total. Results can be found at The Kishwaukee web site.
Hats off to Evanston and Naperville for taking first and second, and to the Chicago Smelts for their outstanding effort. Kudos to all the other teams and every swimmer who competed. A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Kishwaukee team for a well run meet!

Apr 12 - Congratulations to Jennie Quill and Jim Campana on their outstanding swims this past weekend at the Wisconsin state meet. Jim swam blazing 30.75 50 Breaststroke which puts him in striking distance of the ILMSA record. Jim also posted a 2:37 200 breaststroke.

Jennie broke Illinois state records in her new age group (60-64) in 3 events, 50, 100, and 200 fly.

Apr 5 - Lightning ended practice early as the pool was cleared for safety, but it didn't stop us from celebrating the birthdays of Oz and Aileen. Happy Birthday to all our April Birthday Blue Waves!

Apr 3 - Several Blue Wave Swimmers made a road trip to see the Geary Smith Blues Band starring teammate Geary Smith on harmonica and vocals. The band was hot and the beers were cold. We'll post some photos if we can find any non-incriminating ones...

Mar 30 - Revised Blizzard Meet Results are in.

Mar 24 - Preliminary Blizzard Meet Results are here. They have also been sent to ILMSA and will be posted there soon.

Mar 14 - The second annual Blue Wave Blizzard meet was a success. Lots of good swims. Jen Harrison swam a rare non-freestyle event with a 50 fly. Cindy Kracen upped the ante by swimming her first 100 fly. I'm sure that Oz, Ben, and Kerric are busy trying to convince them both to join them in their usual 200 fly at state! Kevin Lue swam his first meet in a while. Good to see Kevin back competing! Take a look at some Photos

The goal of the fundraiser was for the kids to swim up to 200 lengths in 2 hours for their sponsors. John swam an impressive 360 lengths or 9000 yds with only one stop long enough to put on his paddles ! On top of that, he was his own sponsor. Thank you John for supporting the Cyclones !
